Synopsis

Essence of Freedom is a short poetical documentary about our modern society and the ways one can escape the pressure of our culture by finding freedom and peace in nature. In the short film, we follow Awi into nature and muse about what it means to exist or occur in- or belong to our present times.

Awi is a wildlife filmmaker, but often feels he needs to escape to nature. When he is working in the great outdoors, his camera is making him fail to truly enjoy nature, because the lens is functioning as a filter of sorts. So when he does want to experience nature as it’s intended , he sometimes leaves to the woods by himself, to find inner peace.
